In top health! Park Mark and Park Access awarded to Scunthorpe General Hospital

Scunthorpe General Hospital has once again demonstrated the highest standards across its parking operations.

The car parks managed by Northern Lincolnshire & Goole Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have achieved the prestigious Park Mark and Park Access awards for ALL of their managed car parks in Scunthorpe Hospital. This is a fantastic achievement recognising that its parking facilities have measures in place that actively deter crime and the fear of crime in car parks.

Park Mark® is the accredited logo of the Safer Parking Scheme. It is given to parking facilities that have achieved the requirements of a risk assessment conducted by the Police and the British Parking Association. Their assessments include management and maintenance of the facility, checking that there are appropriate levels of surveillance, lighting, signage, and cleanliness. All these are known to reduce the opportunity for crime and thus create a safer environment for the motorist and their vehicle.

Car parks with a Park Mark® can use signage featuring the distinctive Park Mark® tick so that drivers know exactly where to go for safe parking. Facilities that have received this award have seen a drop in vehicle-related crime of over 80%.

The Park Access accreditation brings together the very best of two accreditations – the Disabled Parking Accreditation and People’s Parking Award to automatically become the UK's industry benchmark for accessible and inclusive parking and electric vehicle charging facilities.

Park Access EV includes requirements and recommendations for accessible EV charging informed by the new British Standard Institution accessibility standard, PAS 1899. A Park Access Handbook has been produced to provide parking operators with guidance and clarity, simplifying the process to ensure that their car parks and EV charge points are accessible to everyone.

Phil Whale Security and Car parking manager Manager said: The recent award of the Park Mark and Park Access standards demonstrates our commitment to providing the highest standards of parking facilities and services. In partnership with Bidvest Noonan, the Trust ensures the parking space provided is safe, accessible, and easy to navigate. The team managing our parking and keeping patients, staff, and visitor vehicles safe are real assets and we are thankful to them for their continued professionalism and efforts.

Colin Sproats, BPA Area Manager said: “I am delighted that Scunthorpe Hospital has achieved the Park Mark and Park Access award, demonstrating their hard work and commitment to provide a safe environment for users.”
