Solid performance as Rock Shopping Centre recognised with Park Mark award

Car park retains top safety award for 13th consecutive year

A major shopping destination has been recognised for the safety and cleanliness of its car park after receiving the prestigious Park Mark® award.

The Rock Shopping Centre in Bury has received the award for the 13th year. The standard acknowledges that its parking facilities have measures in place that actively deter crime and the fear of crime.

Park Mark® is the accredited logo of the Safer Parking Scheme. It is given to parking facilities that have achieved the requirements of a risk assessment conducted by the Police and the British Parking Association. Their assessments include management and maintenance of the facility, checking that there are appropriate levels of surveillance, lighting, signage, and cleanliness.  All these are known to reduce the opportunity for crime and thus create a safer environment for the motorist and their vehicle.

Arnold Wilcox-Wood, Centre Director at The Rock said: “The safety of our customers is of paramount importance. Our teams work very hard to maintain high safety and cleanliness standards of the car park and the entire centre. We are pleased to have been recognised with this award.”

Mark Osmond, Area Manager added: “I am thrilled that The Rock Shopping Centre has achieved the Park Mark award, demonstrating their hard work and commitment to providing a safe environment for users.”

Car parks with a Park Mark® can use signage featuring the distinctive Park Mark® tick so that drivers know exactly where to go for safe parking. Facilities that have received this award have seen a drop in vehicle-related crime of over 80%.
